I have spent the last few weeks compiling all the resources I could find to the DarkPlaces Quake engine to make Quake HD Remix. after all the work compiling and editing the Cvars I am proud to present this mod to the world.

currently, it is at Version 1.0 when more resources get released to the world I will be releasing further updates. My goal is to compile the most comprehensive quake mod there is.

This mod features ALL the original Quake (and mission packs) CD music in high-quality OGG format.

I am not taking ANY credit from the Authors of the resources compiled it this mod. and have named them in my readme file so they get the credit they deserve for putting all that effort into making public domain resources.

Currently, I have added the HD textures. replaced the weapon models, some of the monster models and put 2k textures on the monsters that have no model replacement. the Items ans Ammo boxes have also been replaced and the mod features softened real-time lighting and shadows and parallax bump-mapping (see _readme first.txt to disable POM if your rig can't handle it)

This mod has FULL support for both Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity.

FULL VERSION GAME DATA IS NOT INCLUDED FOR LEGAL REASONS.

If you don't own the full version of Quake the Demo data for the Base game IS included, and If you like it you can purchase Quake and Both Mission Packs from Steam.

I would like to personally thank ALL the people that created the resources I compiled and to let them know I did not alter their work at all. 
It is just over 5Gb to download and uncompresses to about 6.5Gb

  1. If your rig struggles with this mod, check the readme file for instructions on disabling Parallax Mapping (big boost in FPS). Also you can adjust settings in the "Video", "Effects" and "Lighting" sections in the Options menu.

    1. you can rename the Darkplaces.exe to GLQuake.exe and copy the whole folder over your Steam install of quake. However for some insane reason the shadows are sharp instead of soft. Also you need to disable the Steam Overlay as the graphics get messed up every time the overlay shows itself and goes back to normal when overlay is not showing. I personally recommend copying the pak files from ID1/Hipnotic/Rogue to your Quake HD Remix folder outside of Steam to get soft shadows.

    3. I just now discovered if you have a Nvidia card, if you get Nvidia inspector, remove glquake.exe form the quake profile and create a new profile and place BOTH darkplaces.exe & Glquake.exe (as renamed copy darkplaces.exe) you will get soft shadows when running the game through Steam.

      Remember to copy darkplaces.exe as a copy and rename said copy to GLQuake.exe for steam to pick up the mod!

  4. You can try adding newer versions of Darkplaces by copying into the Quake HD remix. I would recommend backing it up first as I found some previous versions broke the game by borking the weapons. I have heard from other users that DOPA does not work on this. I am not sure what would be the issue. Maybe when I have finished creating my UltraHD Texture pack for Doom I will look into the DOPA issue with more depth, and see if I can find more resources for an update.

  5. The download all option doesn't actually download all the files and if you download the 10 separate files, they won't unzip due to an error.Is there any way to fix the downloads?

  6. This package is extracted not 6.5gb, its 5.7gb only. I have texture garbage on liquid textures. Water textures in first map and other maps appear and disappear randomly.I think some files missing to show liquid animations correctly. It seems to be very unfinsihed at this state, looks like a alpha or beta version for me. Have tried it with some darkplaces dev builds too, nothing happens. Please fix liquid textures to get it finally to work.

  8. I've recently tried setting up the HD textures for this port and it's saying I'm not authorized to access the files on the site. Have they been locked down or something or did I just miss a step?
